This camera has mixed reviews. I am not sure why this camera got those 1 and 3 star reviews, perhaps these customers got buggy cameras. I have found TP-Link to be a reputable vendor who makes good quality products at a reasonable price. These are currently a great deal the set I purchased was offered with an additional discount voucher. It comes with a wired Ethernet port allow for easy configuration by connecting to your local network and accessing it via a web page. To its credit, the camera’s MAC address is on the label – providing this information is something which a lot of manufacturers seem to forego. The web page has all the set up functionality required.Despite the exhortations to use their APP, the camera can be fully used and configured via its web page. You will probably need to upgrade the firmware and this can be done easily using the VIGI manager found on the TP-links product page. Installation of this software is not required to make the camera work. Firmware updates should also be possible via the web page.TP-link firmware updates tend to be a bit confusing as the updates vary by version and region. With the camera on the wired network, I set up the WIFI and it is now operating by WIFI alone. The device is ONVIF compliant and can be accessed by the “ONVIF Device Manager” free software.Note there are variants of this camera with different focal lengths. This is the 4mm one with a 79 deg horizontal field of view – reasonable wide for a bullet type IP CAM.The camera has 4 illumination LEDs – 2 IR and 2 “white” leds – the latter allowing for colour at night.
