A spendid children book. Perfect for your kid
The FORESTBORNS by Vardhini Amin will be one that will always remain close to my heart because this reminds me of my favourite childhood book series, which made me love novels and series. This is a story about Avni, a school going rebel child, who lives in the forest. And Siah, the Deha (soul) of one of the sandalwood trees growing in Avni’s neighborhood forest. Avni loves the forest, but for a very different reason. A reason that unfolds in mysterious ways. Whereas Siah is set on her journey to save the lives of the Sandalwood trees from the cruelty of humans. A journey that is full of obstacles which may lead to Siah losing her life as well. On the other hand Avni is on a mission to find the culprits behind thieving of branches and the incident of the forest fire, in which she lost her parents. This book is a perfect read for your teenager. It has beautiful illustrations that keep you intrigued and entertained. A book that is full of morals, empathy and values one needs. An aspect I loved about this book is, how it nourished sisterhood in a very beautiful manner. The writing style is splendid it transports you to a very different world of the forest lives and I guess after this book, whenever I look at the forest, it won’t be the same again. It embraces mistakes and tragedies in a very beautiful way.A solid 5 star â read. Highly recommended for readers who are into children, teens and fantasy fiction

Where Nature and Humanity Unite: A Review of The Forestborn
“The Forestborn” by Vardhini Amin is a captivating tale that seamlessly weaves together the realms of nature and humanity, creating a story that is both heart-wrenching and enchanting. Set in a hidden world where the whispers of the trees hold ancient secrets, the novel explores the delicate balance between humans and nature. The story centers around Siah, a fiery young tree soul, who embarks on a perilous journey to protect her kind from the threat of sandalwood smugglers. Along the way, she meets Avni, a young girl who finds solace in the very grove that is now in danger. As the paths of these two characters intertwine, a remarkable connection blooms between them, leading to a miraculous turn of events that underscores the resilience of life and the profound bond between humans and the natural world.Amin’s descriptive writing style brings the forest to life, making it almost a character in its own right. The themes of harmony between humans and nature are beautifully conveyed, resonating deeply with anyone who sees plants as an integral part of life. The pacing is engaging, keeping the reader invested in Siah and Avni’s journey from start to finish. The book’s strengths lie in its character development, world-building, and unexpected plot twists. A fresh and unforgettable story
Do you think the fantasy genre shouldn’t be about only dragons, elves or mythical characters from foreign lands? And when it’s about children or middle graders, it’s mostly all candy and roses. Our Indian culture and literature have delivered unforgettable fables and fantasy stories without such characters.Forestborn refreshes that outlook. Rather, it introduces a real-life problem in a magical realm. Wins a brownie point for that!In a nutshell, the story revolves around Siah, a young tree soul and Avni, a young girl. They team up and try to save the Sandalwood grove from the smugglers’s grip.Another thing I must appreciate is that there are some unique characteristics of trees found in the Western Ghats. It’s beautiful!I believe a young reader will enjoy the storytelling, and as the book has some amazing illustrations, they will have a good reading experience.
