Having used several other recording programs, I found this one to have a relatively older look and appearance. Having used other software, I was relatively familiar with how it would work and I was able to somewhat navigate my way around. The primary reason for ordering this software was to connect my Spark amplifier to it for recording, but I was unable to figure it out and finding support for this topic was not very easy. There aren’t many online videos on how to use it, so I ended up giving up on it and went back to my old software. I really wanted this to work and maybe I will revisit it at some point, but for now I am using something else.

I’ve waited while to write this review because I wanted to work with it a bit before giving my opinion. For the record, I have worked with recording hardware dating back to the 90s and then eventually made the transition to software/hardware in 2000. I’ve since used a combination of both. In addition, I have a background in commercial radio and recording engineering.While I have not delved into all this software is capable of doing, I can give a basic review at this point. First off, you receive a CD so you can install from the disk. I personally chose this option, but had to buy a CD disk player/reader for my laptop as it did not have one. This is unnecessary since there is a way to simply download it from the site and use the Key from your purchase to enable use.Once this process was complete, I was able to open the program and get to work. As long as your audio interface is operational (correct drivers installed and already working with you PC/Laptop), Samplitude should recognize it and allow you to configure based on your preference and needs. I did encounter some issues at first, but it was because my ASIO driver had to be downloaded, installed, and configured. No fault of the software.Once my audio interface was correctly setup, it was very easy for me to get to work. I did not consult the manual much as I was able to use my past experience to figure it out. It was relatively intuitive to use, though it does have a bit dated GUI.This software can do much of what the more popular, better known programs can do albeit there is not as much support or knowledge of this platform. I am confident that a person can use this to record full projects; however, you will need to dedicate a bit of time to learning the work flow and how to best use this software to meet your needs.I previously used most of the top software and some of the top hardware for recording and I will say you can accomplish anything you wish to do using this platform. However, it is a lesser known software (I remember it from way back in the day!) so there isn’t as much information available should you have issues.At this point in my life, I make music primarily for fun. In the past, it was part of how I paid my bills. If I still used this type of software as a means of survival, I honestly would choose the top software that most producers/artists have heard of and use. Since I make music mostly for fun and as soundtracks for content creation, it works great for me at an affordable price. Most professional software has moved toward a subscription model or costs quite a substantial amount of money. This is reasonably priced and offers the most important features a producer would need.

Ich verwende von Magix bereits das Videoprogramm Vegas und das Loop-Programm Acid Pro, wobei ich mit letzterem bis jetzt auch Midi’s bearbeitet und Aufnahmen durchgefÃ¼hrt hatte. Auch wenn Acid Pro ein wenig instabil lief, war ich immer mehr als zufrieden und ich freue mich auf das neue Samplitude. Neben dem eigentlichen Musikbearbeitungs-Programm werden auch die Basisversionen von Ozone 10 und Melodyne 5 mitgeliefert. WÃ¤hrend ich Ozone hauptsÃ¤chlich zum automatisieren der LautstÃ¤rke eines Liedes verwende, kann man bereits mit Melodyne Essential recht gut den Pitch von Vocals verÃ¤ndern.Installation:Geliefert wird ein Code, der auf der Internetseite des Herstellers eingelÃ¶st werden muss. Per Email erhÃ¤lt man die Seriennummern der einzelnen Programme und einen Installationsmanager. Dies ist sehr hilfreich, da ich kein DVD-Laufwerk mehr am PC besitze und somit die Software auch einfach aus dem Internet herunterladen kann. Zudem wird die Installation in dem erstellten Magix Konto hinterlegt, so dass ich jederzeit Zugriff auf die Seriennummer habe und die Lizenzen auf zwei PC’s verteilen kann. So kann ich auch jederzeit selbststÃ¤ndig die Lizenz von einem PC auf einen anderen Ã¼bertragen ohne den Kundenservice kontaktieren zu mÃ¼ssen.Programm:Alte Programme von Magix sind mit meinem System ab und zu abgestÃ¼rzt. Das neue X8 scheint aber flÃ¼ssig und sicher auf meinem 12600K mit 32 GB RAM zu laufen. Zudem ist die OberflÃ¤che ein klein wenig moderner und Ã¼bersichtlicher geworden. Verschiedene Designs helfen dabei, dass sich jeder so gut wie mÃ¶glich zurechtfinden wird.Dennoch ist man als Samplitude Neuling erst einmal Ã¼berwÃ¤ltigt von den vielen Funktionen. Es dauert eine Weile, bis ich herausgefunden habe, dass man bei einer Midi Spur eine Aufnahme starten muss, damit man ein Midi-Objekt erhÃ¤lt, was man frei editieren kann. Oder das man den Midi-Output auf Master stellen muss, damit die VST Instrumente erklingen. Nach ein wenig Musizieren geht das aber alles intuitiv.Aufnahme:Bei der Aufnahme von Piano und Gesang in mehreren Runden merkt man den groÃen Vorteil der neuen X8 Version im Vergleich zu Acid Pro. Alle Aufnahmen werden untereinander synchronisiert und ich kann auswÃ¤hlen, welche Variante am besten klingt. Dies ist deutlich einfacher als frÃ¼her, wo ich alles manuell synchronisieren musste. Samplitude schafft es tatsÃ¤chlich, dass es nahezu perfekt klingt, wenn man zwei oder mehr Aufnahmen verbindet. Die ÃbergÃ¤nge zwischen zwei Aufnahmen sind ebenfalls deutlich besser als mit meinen frÃ¼heren Programmen.Liegt man beim Timing mal ein wenig daneben kann das Programm auch dies korrigieren. Allerdings habe ich das GefÃ¼hl, dass Melodyne dies ein wenig besser hinbekommt. Hier empfiehlt es sich mit beiden Varianten ein wenig zu spielen.Mastering:Ich muss gestehen, dass ich das Mastering fast immer automatisiert ablaufen lasse. Mit dem mitgelieferten Ozone 10 hat man aber ein Werkzeug zur Hand, welches recht gute Arbeit leistet. Ich habe das GefÃ¼hl, dass hier automatisch ein Kompressor und ein Noise Gate erstellt wird. Somit ist die Aufnahme danach vielleicht nicht perfekt, aber immer noch besser bearbeitet, als wenn ich dies mit der Hand machen wÃ¼rde.Midi:Das Programm liefert eine groÃe Anzahl an virtuellen Instrumenten mit. Auch wenn die Auswahl ein wenig geringer ist, als in der Suite Version, lassen sich problemlos Lieder mit den Instrumenten aufnehmen. Ich kenne die Magix Instrumente bereits von Acid Pro und finde sie allesamt sehr gelungen. Hervorheben mÃ¶chte ich das Klavier “Century Keys” und das “Orchestral Ensemble”, mit denen man in Kombination mit einem vorhanden Drum VST bereits Lieder erstellen kann. Wem dies nicht ausreicht erhÃ¤lt noch eine groÃe Bibliothek an Instrumenten von Independence Pro. Ich persÃ¶nlich finde die Magix Instrumente aber besser.Der grÃ¶Ãte Pluspunkt ist bei der Midi Bearbeitung, dass die Noten auf einem Musikblatt angezeigt werden und nicht nur noch als Balken. Vor allem als Klavierspieler komme ich so viel besser zurecht.Fazit:Besonders angetan hat es mir der neue Take Composer, der verschiedenen Aufnahmen der gleichen Passage sauber untereinanderlegt und ich jeweils den besten Take auswÃ¤hlen kann. Das spart extrem viel Zeit und ist sehr gut gemacht. Leider kann ich die alten Acid Dateien nicht in Samplitude importieren. Ich muss mich also entscheiden, welches der Programme ich in Zukunft verwenden mÃ¶chte. Samplitude wirkt aber stabiler und moderner. Zudem hat es fÃ¼r die Aufnahme mehr Funktionen.
