As good as you expect
Love the Dynamic Island. Nothing else is new. That means everything is good and reliable. Excellent battery life as itâs a large device. Have noticed some heating issues while charging, but nothing alarming.Most phones are great for most users these days. Donât expect any new insight in review like these. If you have a specific use case out of your phone, better check the reviews on YouTube.As for an iPhone, itâs one of the best out there. You get all the ecosystem benefits, regular updates for 5+ years, strong reliability, high quality interface design, minimum glitches, better quality of apps, overall smooth experience etc.Some have complained about the lack of usb-c in prior iPhones. This one has usb-c (finally).Rant about the âslowâ refresh rate.Honestly, itâs a gimmick. I also use a Nothing android as my secondary. It has android with 120 Hz but not the OS-wide consistent smoothness that iOS has. The overall experience of iOS is still better, as consistent interface design plays a bigger role in delightful experiences. Also iPhones have much higher touch-sampling rate (90hz or something), which leads to a smoother âfeelâ on lower refresh rate as well. MOST people wonât notice a diminished refresh rate. Honestly, if people like MKBHD donât beat their drums about it, many wouldnât care. Most overrated criticism Iâve seen in years. I think the iPhone SHOULD have high refresh rate in this day and age, but itâs clearly not a MUST or else their sales would be dropping.If you care too much about refresh rate for gaming or whatever, donât buy this particular iPhone.Finally the price issue. Yes iPhones are unholy levels of expensive. As are most flagships today. I wish it wasnât the case, but it is. iOS also has the highest reliability on its devices and my entire family uses only apple products – its the perfect device for my use case. The price is just a necessary sacrifice for 4+ years of reliable experience.
