In the software development world three years is a long time. As I write this Android is three versions in advance of this book. The Eclipse IDE has been eclipsed by Android Studio. So overall this book in my opinion is obsolete.

This book is a great help and excellent resource as I search through the haystack everything about android app development. I was really impressed that the author was able to walk me through everything from start to finish, step by step, in a simple and effective manner.  This an awesome study for programming for me. I just love Android apps, and it’s cool because it’s an open source market so there’s enough room for you to compete with others. Google Playstore is the best source of Android apps, and I’m amazed how nice the apps are so I tried this book hoping that I can start coding my own Android app. Through this book I have learned that there’s a software called Android Studio, and it’s an awesome software for you to start coding your own Android app.

Android App Development & Programming Guide by Os Swift is a really helpful guide. Developing an app is actually simpler than most people think they seem to think it will be long and complicated, but its not really; especially if you know a little about programming in general. The author has included a lot of good basic understandable information in book. It breaks down the steps into a nice simple process. Great book if you want an overview of app development.

With the rise of smart phones, android apps began its conquest too. I have a great interest in programming and right now have a full command on JAVA. My uncle suggested me to study android programming to add in our business. I have watched several video tutorials but books are different, I can flip and go back on pages again and again. Actually, what made me choose this book is the cover. Though it is simple, it is well thought. Android is distinguished by that green logo and while programming is a messy task, lots of codes, the book cover looks relax. Praises on the outside, more in the inside. The author made very clear instructions in installing and using Android STK and other platforms. Yet there are chapters that I found incomplete, or it’s just me who wanted more. This is a good beginners guide to start your journey. And one more thing, unlike other programming books that’s messy, this book is well edited. The entering of commands are easily identified. Well, this book reached my expectations.
