Great value for money.
Got this for disposing confidential bank statements, credit cards and CDs. Works like a dream, easy to clean, and the size is just right. Doubles up as a bin also, with a little opening on the side where you can dump things without shredding them too. For the price, itâs great value for money.

Writing this review after a couple of days of use. The shredder performance is good and noise level is ok. Only inconvenience is with the Auto/Off/Reverse switch, while trying to switch off, most often the switch slides to Reverse mode causing the shredded paper to be pushed back up. Amazon Basics can think of a better switch design. Additionally they can add a locking mechanism to the extension bar, which slides out without any force, which is a bit inconvenient.Irrespective of the above two glitches/design flaws, the shredder is worth buying.

Poor design of sensor and auto function makes unreliable product
I am posting this review after using this product for several months.When I bought this shredder, I studied the specifications, understood my needs and realized that for home use this is a good product where one does not need to shred lot of pages at a single time.So throughout my use I was happy and did not get my shredder overheated more than once.The trouble started recently when the sensor stopped working.Now I have crossed the warranty period so that is no help to me.Considering the cost of the shredder and labour associated with replacing the sensor, it is easy to realize that this is not an option.I am happy with the cross cut blades which actually contributes huge deal in relief you feel when you shred sensitive documents.I am also happy with the motor which as I mentioned overheat only once.Another awesome thing is the “reverse” mode of the motor which technically steals all possibilities of your paper/s getting stuck.So why am I giving it lousy 1 star?It is because of the functional design of the shredder whose whole purpose is to break down and cause consumer headache and spend more money.When you look at the switch at the top, you will realize, there are 3 settings “auto”, “off”, “reverse”.Notice there is no “On”so whole functionality of shredder is dependent on that lousy low quality sensor. :-(I mean how hard was it to keep another setting of “On”!if it was there I would be giving a glowing review right now.But because there is no way around the sensor, I am unable to use product on which I have spent money.Now I have started doubting Amazon basics’ reliability with complicated products.Not recommended for any one. home use or not.If my review contributed to your decision, I request you to click on the “helpful” button.Thanks in advance.

Amazon Basics Cross Cut Shredder
It is a good product that I had to buy as my previous Amazon Basics shredder started to malfunction – the sensors were not working. My suggestion to Amazon is to provide a way to by pass the sensors. If we don’t have sensors to start automatic feeding of the paper, then the product will run for a much longer time. The earlier product was more sturdy than the current one; but in my view, that is a marginal difference.This one does the job quite well. I wish they would have enabled it to shred CDs as well. That would have been a wonderful package!
