Just to give you some idea…. there are, on average, two obvious grammatical or spelling mistakes ~per paragraph~ in this book. The author has put absolutely no effort into this. The fact it is the 5th edition, implying it’s been edited 4 times, is actually incomprehensible. You might say well… english is clearly not the authors first language. And so this is permissible if the information is on point (and if you have the patience to overlook such things). The fact this book has been well reviewed is baffling, perhaps the reviewers were asked to review the book, perhaps they too don’t speak english as their first langauge… who knows?I will say one positive thing about the book – the material follows the standard curriculum for a software engineering undergraduate class, so if you are looking specifically for that and english is also your second language … maybe you will find it tolerable. But why? There are far better books on the topic. Why do this to yourself? The actual ideas and the way the author discusses / thinks about them is incoherent and scrambled as well. Infact there are multiple instances where he ~admits in the book~ he does not understand the material and then just moves on to the next topic. This book is, quite literally, like your first rough draft to an essay that you put off until 2 days before it was due. That is how the entire thing reads, from start to finish. To say the author did a bad job would be understatement of the year.I literally could write a better book on software engineering myself if given a years time to research the various topics (I am a student and not even familiar with the topics as of this writing).Absolutely pathetic effort…Buy “code complete 2” instead.
